My artistic pursuits are rooted in my Chinese-Malaysian background. It draws on leftist traditions, post-colonial history, and A.I technologies to explore the complexities of our current moment. I consider myself an ‘anamnesiologist’ (from the Greek root word
anamnesis). It is the concept of the recollection of a previous existence. During my upbringing, ideas of karma, reincarnation and fate were usually used in the framework of Chinese philosophy and culture. I was intrigued by this concept of memory, recollection, and previous existence and how it relates to my cultural and diasporic background.
